Who We Are

In 2010, a group of Indian Lake citizens held a series of public meetings, forums, and focus groups, and conducted surveys. Discussions focused on the challenges and obstacles regarding the vitality and success of their community. Out of this strategic planning process, a document, “Guiding the Boat”, was produced in 2011. Community outreach continued, discussing strategies to improve conditions on the Main Street, promote economic growth, and improve communication among community groups. Eventually it became apparent that the organization needed to attain 501c3 status in order to raise funds for community projects. In 2012, ILCDC officially adopted bylaws and became certified as a non-profit organization.

How We Work

In order to work toward our vision of a thriving Indian Lake, we work to:

  • Create and market a positive image for the Town of Indian Lake by combating deterioration of the community and promoting the Town of Indian Lake as an exciting place to live, visit, shop and invest;

  • Enhance the aesthetic and historic character of private homes and business buildings in the Town of Indian Lake;

  • Partner with other entities the Corporation deems fit in order to educate the public about the history of the area and the buildings and sites within the Town of Indian Lake;

  • Encourage cooperation and build leadership in the business community;

  • Facilitate economic restructuring through the receipt, administration and distribution of public and/or private funds obtained by the Corporation to lessen the burdens of government in connection with activities related to the above purpose, including purchasing and holding real property and/or demolishing blighted and/or vacant structures;

  • Be in partnership with the Town and County governments to achieve the foregoing goals
